Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the arts of performing, and which are now known to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her for being in the "child prodigy" category. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as her by talented parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen joined this wonderful sanctuary in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as young and became very adept at them. This interest was combined with the natural ability to perform. That was apparent when she won each Feis for drama and theater the Irish had to provide. In her 14th year she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study classical theatre and operatic vocals.
